One all time favorite puzzle is the jigsaw puzzle. Jigsaw puzzles are usually about sceneries, landmarks, cartoon characters and even animals. The pictures on the puzzle will vary depending on the age it caters. For young children, it is usually cartoon characters; for adults, the pictures are more on the real life scenarios. Avid jigsaw puzzle solvers can finish more than one set in a month and there are even times when they tackle bigger and more difficult ones. Those who solve puzzles only to kill time usually prefer the simpler and easier ones. Different jigsaw puzzle solvers have their own techniques and styles. These techniques might not be applicable to anyone so it would be best if you develop your own technique. Here are some tips that might help you on your quest to finish your jigsaw puzzle. 1. Work on an area that has enough space and is flat. If you are tackling a big jigsaw puzzle, you might need a bigger space like the floor. The area has to be flat so that you will be able to fit the pieces together perfectly and firmly. Having enough space will not only allow you to view the whole puzzle but it also allows to you to spread the pieces. Stacking puzzle pieces is not a good idea because it will take a lot of time for you to flip each one. Again, depending on the puzzle size you can also work on a table preferably one that is not used often. For example, if you start working on the puzzle on the dining table every time it is meal time, you will have to move the pieces out of there. If you keep on moving the pieces, there is a great risk that you might lose one or several pieces of it. 2. Empty the puzzle box. This means that once you have chosen an area, place every single puzzle piece on the table. Doing this will allow you to turn every single piece face up and it will be much easier for you to spot the puzzle piece that you need at the moment. Selecting a puzzle piece is much easier when everything is laid down in front of you rather than flipping one piece at a time. This will also keep you from losing some pieces. 3. Once every single piece is turned up, you can start sorting out the pieces. You can sort them according to color and texture. Depending on the design of the puzzle, you can also sort it according to the shape of the pieces. Sorting helps you organize the pieces so it will allow you to spot a particular piece simply by looking at the color, texture or shape. 4. Jigsaw puzzle solvers would usually recommend that you start solving using the border pieces. Finding the border pieces are easier rather than starting with the middle one. Why? Because border pieces have one edge straight making them easier to spot. Other than that once you have the border solved you can now work your way to the center. 5. As you continue to work on your puzzle, do not forget to check the picture on the box. Doing this will help you get an idea on what piece should go where. The picture on the box will serve as your guide as you solve your puzzle. If you feel tired, don't push it. Relax once in a while and then continue. 6. If you want to develop more technique, you will have to work on more jigsaw puzzles. It would be better if you work on various jigsaw puzzle types. Over time, the technique will grow on you and you will be able to tackle more complicated ones and solve it faster than you used to. |
