Have you ever heard of that expression that your kids grow up so fast? Buckle up your seat belts, because it surely is true. You might find that one minute you just heard them say their first words and after a while you're there in your front porch watching your son drive off to school. It's important that we remain involved in our children's lives no matter how young or how old they are, and being the loving and generous parents that we are, it would be a really good idea to keep up with the times so we see for ourselves what the new “fads” are for our children. If you happen to be a parent that's already raising a teenager, you might find that the tree house in the back yard or action figures and toy guns wouldn't be as cool to your children as they used to be. What they might find as cool though could be something that leans toward high tech stuff. Here are a couple of those devices that could be considered as toys for their generation. 1. Gaming consoles We usually like to think that the 21st century belongs to the people who are familiar and at home with technology and the many, many devices that have since been developed over the years. If this was the case, then our children would somewhat be like the people we have been grooming since birth to take the 21st century into their own hands. They were born into technology, the Internet and many other advances in technology that even the way they spend their Saturday mornings or any other free time has changed. Consoles like the Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360 are quite the common items in households that teenagers live in. This is one toy that we may never fully understand, but man do our kids love them. Just make sure that you've got another high definition television set plugged and ready for use somewhere in your home because you may never be able to use your living room again if they get to be hooked to certain popular games. 2. Music players Music is as much a part of every teenager's life as the daily news is to us. At such a young age such as theirs, they practically live and breathe passion, inspiration and many other things that turn them into intelligent and incredibly talented individuals. iPods, Zunes and any other music player out there can keep them in touch with their music even when they are on the go. Imagine thousands of songs all crammed into one tiny device that's a fraction of the size of your palm. Did you ever think that would be possible 20 or 30 years after our adolescence? 3. Portable gaming devices Okay, so you've heard about all the satisfaction and approval teenagers have of the PS3, Wii and Xbox. But somewhere along the way, there just seems to be something missing – they can't play while they're outside their homes! Well, console developers like Sony and Nintendo have come up with several solutions to this. And perhaps the most popular and widely known solution to this is the PSP and the DS. These devices allow our children to continue to play whatever game they engage in despite being away from their homes. |
