Four All Time Favorite Games

Although it is the modern age and almost everyone is hooked on video games, there are still some games that have survived through the years. Some of these games have been modernized or digitalized meaning that there are already computer software for these types of games.

Some people prefer to play it the old fashioned way, while others prefer playing it on their desktop computers, laptops and even mobile phones. These games have captivated the hearts of kids, adults and even grandparents for years and it has never lost its touch.

People play these games for various reasons. Some play it to kill time; others play it in order to bond more with other family members. Still, others play it simply because they love playing it. Here are some of these games.

1. Chess. To trace back the history of this game is utterly impossible. The game of chess has been around for years and many chess prodigies have claimed the title grand master.

Chess is a game of strategy. Although there are a lot of books on chess that contain various winning moves, it is still important that you make your own plan and strategy because it will always be a case to case basis and what is in the book may not be applicable on your current chess dilemma. Chess is a very calculating game and is probably the reason why chess players are considered highly intellectual individuals.

2. Scrabble. This game is not only enjoyable but it also paves way for one to show off his prowess with words. Yes, scrabble is a word game and it has been around for as long as one can remember.

Unlike chess, four people can play this game and they take turns putting letters to form words on the scrabble board. Each letter represents a number of points. The longer the word the better because you get more points especially if you land on one of the many bonus spaces on the board.

3. Monopoly. If you are a frustrated businessman or an aspiring one, then you will surely enjoy this game. From the name of the game itself, you can already tell that the goal of the game is to have the most cash and own the most number of assets in other words monopolizing.

The game usually starts by choosing a piece that will represent each player. This is piece is then moved around the board. The movement is usually determined by a dice roll. Each space in the game board contains a property, utility, roadway and even real estate. The player can either buy or sell his or her property.

4. Snakes and Ladders. This is another all time favorite board game. Like monopoly, the game starts by picking a piece that will represent each player. The number of spaces and the movement is determined by a dice roll.

If a piece lands on a space where the snake's mouth is located he or she will go down. If the piece lands at the top part of the ladder, the player has to move his or her piece down. If it lands at the bottom part of the ladder, the player then has to move his or her piece up. The goal of the game is to reach the end first.
