Four Points To Consider When Giving A Doll As A Gift

It would be hard to imagine for a girl to not even have a single doll. It seems that dolls are synonymous to being a girl. These dolls come in different forms and sizes as well.

When you hand a little girl a doll you can see her smiling from ear to ear. Dolls can be a lot of fun as you get to create scenarios with them. You can even create conversations between two dolls.

Dolls can serve as company for a little girl who is home alone. Sometimes these dolls become the embodiment of what a young girl wants to be when she grows up.

Dolls are widely available in the market. They even come in sets. There even doll families sold complete with the father, the mother and the kids and each can also be sold separately. Clothing lines for dolls are also available.

If you are planning to give a doll as a gift, then you have to keep in mind the young girl's preference as every girl has this particular doll that she really likes. Girls can be really picky when it comes to dolls so in order to pick the right one here are a few easy to remember points when going doll shopping.

1. Consider the age bracket the doll is made for. There are some dolls that are created for girls age 10 down while there are also some dolls made for adults only. If you're planning to give it to a young girl, then look for a doll that will fit her age. Keep in mind that a child's imagination is very active and you wouldn't want to give out the wrong message to her. As much as possible give her a doll that is fully clothed and somewhat conservative. In cases when she is old enough, then a more mature looking doll can be given to her. Dolls made of porcelain are not recommended for young girls. This type of material is fragile and can break easily.

2. Take note of the doll's size. If you are giving it to a toddler the doll should be smaller than her. Giving her a doll that is taller than her may cause some difficulty when moving it around. Children want to hold and carry their dolls. As much as possible pick a doll that is small and cuddly.

3. Consider how the doll should be taken cared of. Remember, the doll will be the child's property so she will be left with the responsibility to take care of it. If a particular doll is high maintenance like dolls that simulate a real baby's movement then a 5 year old girl would have some trouble playing with that doll. Keep the doll as simple as possible. Giving a child a high maintenance doll may cause her to lose interest.

4. Young girls grow fast and they mature even faster. As girls grow, they might not be as interested in dolls as they were years before. Buying a very expensive doll and having her outgrow it fast is not really a good thing. If you intend to give her a doll for her to play with and not to be used as part of a collection, then go for a doll that is versatile but at the same time not that expensive. Dolls that come with a lot of extras may cost more. Choose a doll that is simple and basic but at the same time fun to play with.

Keep in mind how the girls treat their dolls so by the time you go shopping for your doll gift you won't have trouble picking the right one. Dolls can be a little girl's best friend so she should have a lot of memorable times while playing with it.
