So your active toddler has turned a year older and now it is time for you to plan for and give him a big birthday bash. Unlike hosting a social gathering where you can simply plan for the food, the music and the place to hold the event, hosting a party for kids is a whole different matter. It takes more than food and drinks to make kids appreciate a party so you must be able to cater to their whims and get party supplies that would sure to tickle their childhood fancies. Here are a few that might be and should be on your list. * Party banner. What more to tell the world that there is a party going on than a wide banner that says a big “happy birthday” to the celebrant! Banners commonly come in rectangular shapes and differ in sizes and designs. Customize your banner to show the name of the celebrant, the date and fun graphics. Have fun with the colors and the design. Draw up clowns, stars and hearts; these three things always interest little kids. A good banner to give them a warm welcome would put them more in the mood to get ready for a day filled with fun, fun, fun! * Party balloons. How children love to gaze at and play with these floating play things. Balloons are usually made out of latex and are typically filled with helium. Air and water are also popularly used in balloons. In choosing balloons for your child's party, check if the balloons are kid friendly. For a child to inhale just a small amount of air from a balloon can cause quite a damage so make sure that the balloons are not broken and the air inside is tightly sealed in. Inflated balloons carry the risk of suffocation as well so stay clear of these. Colored balloons will bring out cheers of delight from kids. Parents should check on the paint used in these balloons nevertheless to make sure that they are safe and nontoxic. To be on the safe side especially if you have children below 8 years old attending the party, you may opt to use paper or mylar balloons. * Party hats. A good party is a good excuse to goof around and wear hats. Remember how the mad hatter celebrates everyone else's unbirthday in the story of Alice in Wonderland. Birthdays are best celebrated with a festive hat on every attendee's head. Be creative and make innovative party hats. Make pirate hats for the boys and princess crowns for the girls. They would definitely love it! * Party plates, utensils and cups. There is no party if there is no food being served. No need to bring out that fancy menu as kids can get all happy and gay with a plate of spaghetti, cookies and chocolates. And dining kiddie style means having paper plates and plastic utensils. These are easy to dispose of and you would not have to worry about something breaking. |
